Dodgers trade for McDermott, send Perez to Orioles

17.4.26 Los Angeles Dodgers: Transfers

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for pitching prospect Axel Perez. McDermott, 27, has mostly pitched in the minors and made one MLB start in 2024, while Perez, 20, is a young prospect who played in the Dominican Summer League last season.

Mets lose Jared Young to knee injury

16.4.26 NY Mets: Injuries

The New York Mets placed Jared Young on the injured list with a torn meniscus that will require surgery, sidelining him for six to eight weeks. His absence adds to a depleted lineup already missing Juan Soto and dealing with Jorge Polanco's lingering injury, as the Mets' offense continues to struggle during an eight-game losing streak. Soto is progressing in recovery and could return during the team's upcoming homestand.

Yelich expected to miss at least a month

15.4.26 Milwaukee Brewers: Injuries

Christian Yelich is expected to be sidelined for at least a month after the Milwaukee Brewers placed him on the injured list with a second-degree adductor strain. The injury, initially thought to be hamstring tightness, occurred during Sunday's loss to the Washington Nationals. While the team projects a mid-to-late May return, Yelich declined to set a firm timeline as he begins rehab.

Mountcastle placed on 60-day IL with fractured foot

14.4.26 Baltimore Orioles: Injuries

Ryan Mountcastle was placed on the 60-day injured list after fracturing his left foot during a game against the San Francisco Giants. Manager Craig Albernaz said it's still unclear if surgery will be needed. Mountcastle had been limited in playing time behind Pete Alonso. The Orioles recalled Weston Wilson from Triple-A and moved Yaramil Hiraldo to the 60-day IL.

Pivetta exits game early with elbow stiffness

13.4.26 San Diego Padres: Injuries

Nick Pivetta was removed in the fourth inning of the San Diego Padres' 7-2 win over the Colorado Rockies due to elbow stiffness after a strong start retiring his first nine batters. The issue, similar to a previous spring concern, prompted caution from the coaching staff. Pivetta, who is early in a long-term contract, has a history of elbow trouble, making his health a key concern moving forward.

Tigers sign Connor Seabold to one-year deal

24.3.26 Detroit Tigers: Transfers

The Tigers signed right-hander Connor Seabold to a one-year split contract worth $800,000 in the majors. The 30-year-old struggled this spring and has a 7.79 career ERA across four MLB teams, but had success in South Korea in 2024 with an 11-6 record and 3.43 ERA. Detroit also placed reliever Beau Brieske on the 60-day injured list with a left adductor strain.

Nationals acquire Jorbit Vivas in trade with Yankees

23.3.26 Washington Nationals: Transfers

The Washington Nationals traded minor league pitcher Sean Paul Linan to the New York Yankees in exchange for infielder Jorbit Vivas. Vivas, who briefly played for the Yankees last season, was originally signed by the Dodgers and later acquired by New York in 2023. Linan, a 21-year-old right-hander, posted a 3.03 ERA across multiple minor league stops last season.

League format : MLB 2026

During the regular season, games are played mainly against teams within each league through an unbalanced schedule, which heavily favors divisional play. Twelve teams will qualify for the postseason, with the division winners seeded 1 through 3, and three wild cards seeded 4 through 6 in their respective leagues. The top two seeds in each league will receive a bye into the Division Series. The other four teams in each league will play best-of-three series, with the higher seed hosting all three games.

The No. 1 seed plays the winner of the 4-5 series, and the No. 2 seed plays the winner of 3-6 in a best-of-five playoff round to determine the final two teams from each league, who then play in the League Championship Series. The champions of each league meet in the World Series to declare an overall Major League Baseball winner. The World Series and League Championship Series are best-of-seven playoff rounds.
